Eluent Selection

Multiposition valves are an excellent option for switching between different eluents in HPLC. With this automatization step, several methods using on different HPLC eluents can be programmed and run for example overnight. KNAUER offers Multiposition valves with up to 16 ports so that intermediate washing steps with additional solubilizers become possible. Bore size should be chosen as large as possible whenever a multiposition valve is used for solvent selection. Therefore, KNAUER offers valves with a bore size up to 4 mm.

Fraction Collection

Multiposition valves offer an easy solution for fractionation tasks. Whenever no advanced functionality of a fraction collector is needed, multiposition valves are an excellent and price-attractive alternative. To integrate a fraction collection valve in an HPLC or FPLC system, it can be mounted on one side of any AZURA L module or integrated into the AZURA ASM 2.2L Assistant.

Column Selection

Switching between different HPLC columns does not always require manual intervention of the user. Multiposition valves can be used perfectly for this purpose. Install one multiposition valve before and one behind the columns that should be switched. With KNAUER valves, up to 15 columns can be connected as one port of the valve is reserved for a bypass position. In combination with eluent selection valves, the HPLC system can in this way be upgraded to a automated method or column screening system.
